“Overall, everything you would want in a guesthouse. I stayed here a few months back while backpacking India. It was a wonderful, calm, clean and chill place to spend a week during the exciting but chaotic month-long trip.

The rooms are clean, spacious and well-furnished. The hotel,I believe was recently built so it feels very modern, cozy and comfortable.

The owner is very worldly and has traveled a lot therefore knows what travels need. He is happy to answer any and all questions and to assist with anything that comes up throughout the visit.

The price is also very good. I remember it being only like $14-$16 a night (August 2019). The value definitely felt better than any other hotel I had checked out in the area.”

“My group of four moved into this hotel because we stayed behind in Leh to wait for the larger group who went for the Markha Valley trek.”

The location of this hotel is superb. It is walking distance to the main bazaar and other parts of Leh, yet tucked away from the hustle and bustle so one can have a quiet time in the room.

The amenities are basic but suffice. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The room rates and laundry services are affordable.

Simon, the owner of the hotel, is friendly and knowledgeable in the places of interests in Leh. When we told him that we wanted to visit the Moravian Church (closed on weekdays), he gladly told us to mention his name to the church pastor to grant us a visit. It was such a privilege for us to be able to visit the highest attitude church in the world.

Speaking for myself, I had a pleasant stay at Kunga Hotel and very much honoured to have Simon as a host

So we rode from Delhi to Leh and were searching for a hotel nearby (walking distance) to the main market of Ladhak. Luckily we found Kunga Hotel and decided to stay there. From the first time itself it started feeling like home. Abhishek is such a gem of a person and so helping and also happens to be a “Motorcycle Enthusiast”. Wish to meet him and visit this place soon. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PLACE!!!

Hotel Kunga is placed in the heart of the beautiful Leh market, everything is a walk around. The rooms are clean, beautiful, well lit. the Proprietor is friendly and will go leaps to help and to make your travel special .

  2. We stayed here on two occasions with the family, in 2021. The rooms are airy, have good access, clean and with large ensuite bathrooms. Location can’t get better, whether you want to walk quiet roads out of town, or climb to the Tsepo Fort or want a nice social evening meal in the heart of town. Mr Galden and Abhishek are ever helpfully present to make sure that all things needed are done. Great value for money and highly recommended.
